Community Outreach

At Families United, we are committed to bridging gaps in access to services and creating a more inclusive community for individuals with developmental disabilities. Our community outreach initiatives focus on empowering underserved populations, particularly marginalized communities, ensuring they are aware of and have access to critical developmental services and supports.

Our Outreach Goals:

Increase Awareness
Many families are unaware of the services available to them through Regional Centers, schools, and healthcare providers. Our outreach efforts focus on educating communities about their rights and the developmental services available for children and adults with disabilities.

Connecting Families to Resources
Our dedicated community connectors work directly in neighborhoods to engage families who might not otherwise have access to information or support. We connect families to vital resources, including early intervention services, IEP support, healthcare, and social services.

Culturally Competent Services
We understand the importance of providing services that respect and reflect the diverse cultural backgrounds of the communities we serve. Our outreach team builds relationships with trusted community leaders, ensuring that our services are culturally relevant and responsive.

Partnering with Key Stakeholders
Families United partners with schools, healthcare providers, community organizations, and faith-based institutions to extend our reach and ensure that services are accessible in the communities that need them most. Our partnerships strengthen our ability to provide support where it’s most needed.

How We Make an Impact:

Mobile Resource Clinics
We bring our services directly into neighborhoods through pop-up events and mobile resource clinics. These clinics offer on-site developmental screenings, educational workshops, and referrals to services.

Family Outreach Events
We host events like back-to-school drives, festivals, health fairs, community engagement events, and community town halls to engage families and share critical information about developmental services and supports available in their area.

Educational Advocacy in Schools
We collaborate with local schools to ensure children with developmental delays or disabilities receive the appropriate supports and are referred for Regional Center eligibility when necessary.
