Community Outreach

The Families United for Equity Community Outreach team is dedicated to ensuring that families across the state of California are informed, supported, and empowered to access the services they qualify for. Here’s a breakdown of what our team does:

  1. Participation and Hosting of Community Events: We actively participate in and host community events across California. These events serve as valuable opportunities to engage directly with families, understand their needs, and provide them with essential information and resources.

  2. Service Awareness and Education: Our team works tirelessly to raise awareness about the services available to families. Through workshops, presentations, and one-on-one interactions, we educate families about the various services they qualify for, ensuring they are aware of their options and rights.

  3. Training on Service Access: We provide training sessions and workshops to equip families with the knowledge and skills needed to access services effectively. This may include guidance on navigating bureaucratic processes, IEP workshops, understanding eligibility criteria, and overcoming common barriers to access.

  4. Multilingual Literature Distribution: Recognizing the linguistic diversity of our community, we provide literature in various languages to ensure accessibility for all. Our materials outline available services, eligibility requirements, and step-by-step instructions on how to access them, empowering families with the information they need in a language they understand.

Our Families United for Equity Community Outreach team is committed to bridging the gap between families and essential services. By engaging with communities and school districts, providing education and training, and offering multilingual support, we strive to empower families to access vital services and ensure that individuals with developmental disabilities live the most meaningful lives with least restrictions.
